The National Transitional Council (NTC) today expressed its gratitude and respect to the people of the United States of America for recognizing the NTC as the legitimate representative of the Libyan people. Vice Chairman Mr. Abdul Hafeedh Ghoga commented:

“The US has consistently developed its credentials as the protector and promoter of democracy and freedom across the world. Recognition of the NTC as the legitimate representative of the Libyan people once more highlights US dedication to helping others achieve these most basic and important human rights.”

Mr. Ghoga also highlighted the difference in visions put forward by the Gaddafi regime and the NTC:

“Gaddafi has not yet realized that Libyans have moved on. His rhetoric focuses on aggression and intimidation but no one is interested. We have had 42 years of looking over our shoulder in fear and now we want to face forwards in hope for a great Libya. This is a challenge that the NTC must and will meet in the coming months.”
