The UAE Ministry of Labor has fined 335 companies across the UAE for violating the midday break for laborers in July this year. According to ministry statistics, only 37 of those companies have paid the fine so far.
The ban was enforced on July 1, and gives laborers who work under the sun a two and a half hour break, from 12.30pm to 3pm. The law does not apply to laborers who work under shaded areas.
While the maximum number of violating companies, 85, were identified in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah boasted the least, with only 11 companies in the emirate breaking the rule.
