In October last year, Al Ghurair’s meeting with Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican City in Rome made headlines in the Gulf’s media. Al Ghurair told official news agency WAM, that he reiterated the UAE’s stance about religious tolerance and co-existence to the Pope, and thanked him for establishing relations between the UAE and the Vatican.
“I was really impressed by [His Holiness’s] vast knowledge about different aspects of life in the UAE, specially the tolerance and churches construction,” Al Ghurair said.
