Advertising spend in the UAE fell 26 percent in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008, according to statistics published by the Pan Arab Research Center (PARC).
The biggest reductions were in both the property and financial sectors, which fell 75 percent and 43 percent respectively during the first two quarters of 2009. However, advertising spend rose on clothing, jewelry and household items, among others.
Overall, however, advertising spend remained stable at AED1.2 billion during the first half of 2009.

Overall, however, advertising spend remained stable at AED1.2 billion during the first half of 2009? Overall what? Remained stable after a drop of 26%? This story does not make sense.

Since when has any story with statistics made any sense?? It’s always like what a drunkard uses a lampost for..it’s never for illumination, its only for support.
