Deutsche Lufthansa AG has announced plans to restart a regular service to Baghdad, reports Gulf News.
The airline, which is Europe’s second-largest carrier, is the first carrier in Western Europe or the US to resume a schedule to the Iraqi capital.
The Lufthansa flights will serve Baghdad from Munich from the end of September, says the report, offering four flights a week initially.
“Even if Iraq doesn’t seem like a very attractive destination at the moment, in the long run Lufthansa is doing the right thing,” Juergen Pieper, an analyst at Bankhaus Metzler in Frankfurt, told the paper. He recommends investors “buy” the shares.
