Belgian construction firm BESIX Group has won a $1.3 billion contract to build a medical centre in Abu Dhabi in a joint venture with South Korea’s Samsung C&T, according to a report by Reuters.

The announcement was made by Egypt’s Orascom Construction Industries (OCI), which owns a 50 percent stake in BESIX.

The Belgian firm’s share of the contract is worth $780 million, or 60 percent, OCI said, with the remainder of the work due to be done by Samsung.

The client is Mubadala Healthcare, owned by the Abu Dhabi government.
