Bin Laden calls for Pakistan relief in new tape-Web

Osama bin Laden called on Muslims around the world to mobilise to help victims of floods in Pakistan in what purported to be the second internet message from the al Qaeda leader in two days.

In the 13-minute audio recording, issued on Islamist websites on Saturday with a video showing a photograph of bin Laden and images of natural disasters, the speaker who sounded like bin Laden said the wealth and resources of Muslim countries should be used for relief operations in Pakistan.

On Friday, al Qaeda’s media arm As-Sahab issued an 11 minute audio recording in which bin Laden criticised relief efforts in Pakistan and called for action against climate change.

The production date given for Saturday’s message was the Muslim lunar month which began around Sept. 10, while Friday’s tape was said to have been produced in the previous month.
