Mossad’s representative at Israel’s London embassy is being expelled by the British government, according to a report in UK newspaper The Telegraph.
The action is the strongest expression to date of the anger among European governments over the Israeli security service’s alleged use of cloned passports in the killing of Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai.
UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband is expected to make the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, the newspaper said.
Al-Mabhouh’s body was discovered in a luxury Dubai hotel room on January 20.
Dubai authorities revealed that the team suspected of killing him were found to be traveling on cloned passports bearing the identity of British citizens living in Israel. Other passports had been stolen from German, Irish, Australian and French citizens.
