WikiLeaks, a website that publishes anonymously-sourced confidential documents, has published confidential footage showing a US Apache pilot and a gunner shooting at civilians in Iraq, killing a dozen of them.
Reuters journalists Namir Nour El Deen, a photographer, and Saeed Chmagh, a driver, were among the fatalities.
Al Jazeera carried an interview with Namir’s brother, Nabil Nour El Deen, who said after watching the footage that it is clearly a crime committed by the US military.
“Namir is only 21 and he was trying to unmask the US violations against Iraqis,” Nabil stresses. “They claim that my brother was carrying a RPG [rocket-propelled grenade] – when was the RPG as small as a camera?,” he says.
