Crisis not over, says IMF head

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said the crisis is far from over during a BBC World debate ahead of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Istanbul.

“No way can we say that the crisis is over,” he said, echoing sentiment leaders from G7 nations expressed earlier this week.

US President Barack Obama on Friday said the job losses were “a sobering reminder that progress comes in fits and starts.”

“We’re going to need to grind out this recovery step by step,” he added.

Meanwhile, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said “I have my eyes riveted on the unemployment rate.”
