The overall performance of the Dubai Financial Market increased by 10.2 percent to reach 1803.58 points at the end of 2009, as compared to 1636.29 points at the end of 2008, it announced on Sunday. The number of shares traded during the year increased by 44.7 percent compared to 2008, but the value of shares decreased by 43.2 percent, from AED305.2 billion in 2008 to AED173.5 billion in 2009.
More than 57 percent of the total value of shares traded in the market came from the real estate and construction sector, and it was followed by the investment and financial services sector at 18.4 percent.
