Dubai’s government is planning to cut its operating expenditure by up to 15 percent this year in order to achieve a budget surplus in 2011, reported Arabic daily Al-Bayan on Sunday, quoting Abdul Rahman al-Saleh, director of Dubai’s Department of Finance. A comprehensive plan will be worked out by Dubai’s Department of Finance, financial services departments of local government bodies, and other bodies included in Dubai’s budget, he said.
The emirate has forecast a budget deficit of AED5.99 billion ($1.6 billion) for 2010, the paper said.
