Dubai discovers new offshore oil field
Production capability of the field is "promising", says local Arabic newspaper.

A new offshore oil field has been discovered in Dubai, according to a government statement issued today.
“Mohammed bin Rashid brings the good news to the people of the Emirates and announces the discovery of a new marine oil field in Dubai,” said a Dubai media office statement .
While no details were given about the size or production capability of the field, the Al Bayan newspaper quoted industry sources as saying it was “promising”.

The rulers must have known about this oil discovery a fair while ago if they reckon it’ll be ready for production in 12 months. At least 18 months of imaging and exploration is required before production can start. Of course there are any number of reasons why this has been kept quiet until now, ranging from the dull and practical to the outrageously cynical…
