Approximately 38,841 passengers used the metro on Sunday, according to statistics revealed by the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Rail Agency.
Peyman Younes Parham, director of RTA’s Marketing and Corporate Communication, said: “We are proud that this was achieved in one day only. It is evidence that the public transport is thriving through the latest and best mass transit of Dubai (My City My Metro) to implement RTA’s vision of ‘Safe and Smooth Transport for all.”
The RTA hopes that 30 percent of Dubai’s population will use the metro to help reduce traffic congestion in the emirate.
