Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said that work on all the remaining 18 stations on the Dubai Metro’s Red Line will be complete by April 25 2010. However, the operation of the stations will only start in phases; while Emirates Station, Airport Terminal 1 Station, GGICO Station, Al Karama Station, World Trade Center Station, Marina Station, and Ibn Battuta Station will open, the remaining “will be operated over the following months of 2010,” Mattar al-Tayer, the chairman and executive director of RTA said in a release.

He also said that work on the Metro’s Green Line will be completed in August 2011.

A big chunk of the RTA’s budget will be allocated for the Metro project, al-Tayer said.  ”RTA will provide the biggest portion of cash injections out of its budget allocated by the Government of Dubai to cover the cost of the additional works on the Red and Green lines,” he said.
