Dubai Police say they know the identities of the assassins behind the murder of senior Hamas military commander Mahmoud Al Mabhouh.
Al Mabhouh, who travelled to Dubai under his own name and was unaccompanied by bodyguards, was electrocuted and strangled in the Al Bustan Rotana hotel on January 20. He had previously survived several assassination attempts.
According to Hamas, the killers were agents working for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. Dubai Police say they have not ruled out the involvement of Mossad, but that they are pursuing “individual suspects, not an organization,” according to a report in The National.
Dubai Police have the identities of the killers, according to Gulf News. Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, told the newspaper that “we have the identities of the people involved including the killer and the master mind behind this crime. It is a professional criminal group,”
The police have not released the identities of the killers.
