Emirates denies price fixing

Dubai-based carrier Emirates denies allegations by Australia’s regulator that the airline fixed cargo prices, reports Reuters.

“Emirates denies the allegations and will be defending the proceedings,” the company said in an emailed statement. “It does not intend to make any further comment given that the matter is before the court.”

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) claims Emirates made agreements with other freight carriers to fix cargo rates and fuel and security charges between 2002 and 2006. The case will be heard in a Sydney court on September 11.

Emirates is the ninth airline to be accused of price fixing by the ACCC.
