Emirates airline has signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Italian football giants AC Milan, in a deal worth in excess of $82 million (AED 300 million).
The agreement, signed in the presence of superstars Ronaldinho and David Beckham, who is on loan from LA Galaxy, is an extension of a previous sponsorship arrangement in 2007. The new deal will see the Emirates logo appear on AC Milan shirts from the 2010-11 season onwards.
“We like to give sports fans something to shout about and this exciting shirt sponsorship deal certainly does that,” said Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
Other teams sponsored by the carrier include Paris Saint Germain Football Club in France, Hamburger SV in Germany, Olympiacos FC in Greece, and Arsenal in the UK.
