Etisalat unifies global roaming rates
The operator has divided roaming charges into three geographical zones, and each zone has a flat rate.

UAE telecom operator Etisalat announced that it will apply a flat rate for international roaming calls based on new geographic zones. The three zones include the GCC, other Arab countries, and the rest of the world. Customers will be charged unified rates when sending or receiving SMS, voice and video calls while abroad, the company said.
The call rates vary between GSM and Wasel connections: for instance GSM customers calling the UAE from ‘the rest of the world’ zone will be charged AED10 per minute, while Wasel customers will have to pay AED11 per minute. All charges are inclusive of tax and additional operator rates.
The new system will ensure “high quality, simple and more favorable roaming service,” Etisalat said.
