The chairman of Dubai Holding, Mohammed al-Gergawi is Fadel al-Ali’s boss. The Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE federal government, he is also the chairman of the Executive Office of the Dubai government.
Gergawi earlier served as the secretary general of the Executive Council of the Dubai government and is also the founding chairman of the Young Arab Leaders and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
In November this year, Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al-Maktoum suddenly removed Gergawi from the board of Dubai’s main holding company, the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), along with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and Mohammed Ali Alabbar, sparking off a huge media debate about the possible reasons for the move.
