India developing local swine flu vaccine

India is expected to develop an indigenous, injectable H1N1 flu vaccine by the end of this year, VM Katoch, secretary in the department of health research has told news agency IANS.

“We are not bothered about what is happening abroad,” he said. “We will be among the first few countries to have such a vaccine to tackle the H1N1 virus.”

At least three companies are working on the vaccine, he added. One of those companies, Pune-based Serum Institute of India, is developing an egg-based vaccine, which is expected to be completed by November this year.

    I try to take precautions:
    avoid crowded areas, specially malls and clinics, wash hands every now and then.

    Soak the vegies and fruits in water with salt before consuming.

    And above all I build up my immune system by sleeping for 7-8 hrs per day and stay indoors and take extra rest.
