In October 2008, SHUAA Capital appointed Michael Burgess as the chief financial officer of the company. When he joined, Duwaji said: ‘Michael’s appointment reflects the strong growth and increasing complexity of our business over the last few years and our commitment to ever better levels of disclosure, governance and risk management. Michael brings a real depth of international experience working with some of the most highly regarded financial institutions.’
To which Michael responded with: ‘SHUAA Capital has a unique business model and tremendous opportunities for long-term growth in this very dynamic region. I am delighted to join the team particularly at a time when the business is opening into new markets and offering more sophisticated products and services.’
Michael is a Chartered Accountant, and he moved to Dubai after working with Morgan Stanley in New York.
