As head of the marketing and communications activities of the Dubai Gold and Jewelry Group (DGJG), Suhail works under the group’s managing director, Tawhid Abdullah. The Group announced that it recorded sales worth around $135m during the 65-day DSS this year.
The group was started in 1996 mainly to support the first DSF, and currently has more than 700 members. Suhail has served on its board since 2006.
Abdullah is managing director of Damas Jewelry and has over three decades of experience in the gold and jewelry trade. He shares the running of Damas with his two brothers. Abdullah led the creation of the Damas Student Scholarship Fund, an initiative developed by Dubai Men’s College and Damas to support local students in the college.
Abdullah was also named Best Entrepreneurial Mentor by Dubai’s Ruler Sheikh Mohammed last year.
