Michael Jackson’s death on June 25 and his memorial service at the Staples Center on Tuesday boosted web traffic to record highs, reports the BBC. Global online traffic rose by 33 percent during the memorial service; Akamai, a US-based company that handles over 20 percent of the world’s web traffic, claims almost four million people per minute visited news sites around the time of the memorial.
June 25, however, marked the highest web traffic in history, with over 4.2 million visitors per minute surfing news sites.
