Nissan has said it is recalling up to 50,000 cars in the Middle East, due to defects that affect 540,000 vehicles worldwide.

The recall centers on fix faulty brake pedals and fuel gauges in several models of pickup trucks, SUVs and minivans. The brake pedal recall applies to 15,670 vehicles in the Middle East; the gas gauge problem affects 32,147 vehicles, according to press reports.

Titan, Armada, Quest and Infiniti QX56 vehicles built between 2008 and 2010 are included in the recall, which mainly affects the US market.

Nissan says there have been “no accidents or injuries have been reported” due to the faults.

The news follows the much larger recall by Japan’s largest automaker Toyota, which has recalled 8.5 million vehicles due to safety concerns.
