Oman plans rail tender in December

Oman is planning to invite bids for the construction of a 230km railway project in the country by December this year, a tender board official told Reuters. “Many international firms such as a Chinese company have shown interest … (in bidding) for the first phase, for which we expect to issue the tender in December,” he said.

A tender for the second phase will be issued next year, he said. “The third phase, which is under study, will involve a railway network construction from the south of Oman to Yemen, expected to be tendered out in 2010,” he added.
