Around 122 fuel stations across the UAE have substituted the imperial gallon measurement with the litre, said Mohammed Saleh Badri, acting director general of Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), reports official news agency WAM.
The UAE cabinet had issued a decree late last year stating that from January 1, 2010, the new unit sale price for gasoline will be in litres instead of gallons. One gallon equals around 4.5 litres.
All the oil companies and corporations operating in the country have four months to make the change, said Badri.
