The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said that people will not be allowed to take their pets on the Dubai Metro while travelling, reports Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm. Pets will also be banned from metro stations, even if they are held in cages.
The RTA told the paper that its decision was taken to ensure safety and security of metro passengers, as some animals panic in crowded areas.

Sounds like a sensible decision to me. Perhaps exceptions should be made for seeing-eye dogs, but I cannot imagine too many blind people using the Metro unaccompanied by a sighted companion.
