Saudi hopes for more economic growth in 2010

A senior Saudi official hopes for greater economic growth next year, reported state-owned news channel al-Ekhbariya on Monday.

“The economy is in still in a good state, it still grows, it grows well and we expect it, God willing, to grow stronger next year,” said finance minister Ibrahim al-Assaf.

The nation announced on Monday that its gross domestic product (GDP) has grown by approximately 0.15 percent in real terms in 2009.

Yesterday, the nation announced it expects a fiscal deficit next year of SR70 billion ($18.7 billion).
