A Saudi man dressed in a pilot’s uniform was detained at an airport in Manila after he breached security and roamed in restricted areas, the AP reported on Tuesday.
19-year-old Hany Abdulelah Bukhari posed as a pilot and passed through security at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. As he was approaching the arrivals division reserved for arriving airline crews, he apprehended by a security officer.
When asked for identification, the Bukhari showed the security officer an ID that indicated he is the son of a Saudi Arabian Airlines employee.
“It’s a breach of security,” Alfonso Cusi, Manila airport general manager, told The Associated Press. “We consider him to be a security threat, so we are taking action from there.”
Bukhari claims he was waiting for his father to arrive in Manila from Saudi Arabia.
“It’s a mistake … but not my mistake,” Bukhari told ABS-CBN television. “The guards allowed me to enter.”
Bakhari has been accused of misrepresentation and will be deported, Cusi told the AP.
