Nobody will be barred from attending the annual haj pilgrimage this year even if they fall into the high-risk category for swine flu, the Saudi Health Minister Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said on Saturday, reports The Associated Press.
“Saudi Arabia does not ban anyone because haj is a religious event,” he said. “Saudi Arabia has put in place strong recommendations that we hope individual countries will abide by.”
The kingdom has also started vaccinating government health workers against the virus in preparation for the pilgrimage, the official SPA news agency said.
