Saudi plans $666 million airport expansion
The projects include the creation and expansion of 23 domestic airports in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia has set aside SAR2.5 billion ($666.6 million) to develop some of the Kingdom’s existing domestic airports and build new ones, the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) said in a statement. The projects include the creation and expansion of 23 domestic airports in the Kingdom, and when ready, they will serve around 9 million passengers every year, the GACA said.
Some of the new projects include the SAR158 million ($42 million)Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Al-Ula, the SAR13 million ($3.4 million) King Abdul Aziz Regional Airport in Jazan, and the SAR20 million ($5.3 million) Taif Regional Airport. The plan also includes a budget of SAR300 million ($79.99 million) for work on the Jazan Airport and SAR230 million ($61.3 million) on improving the Tabuk regional airport, according to the GACA.
