The Saudi Gazette is reporting that members of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry have floated the idea of a trainline to Europe.
Representatives of the Chamber met with their German counterparts this weekend to discuss ways to increase trade between the two countries, and a trainline from the Kingdom into Europe was one of the more notable proposals, says the report.
Riyadh Chamber Vice Chairman Sa’ad Al-Mujil said the idea, tabled during a meeting with senior representatives from German Chambers of Commerce, entailed a rail line passing through Middle East countries such as Jordan and Syria on its way to Europe as a means of boosting trade exchange with Saudi Arabia, according to the report.
Al-Mujil said he hoped to see increased exports to Germany and greater German involvement in projects in the Kingdom.
