Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police chief, has called for ending the visa sponsorship system in the UAE, claiming it burdens nationals, reports The National.
“Employment contracts should be between companies and employees,” he said on the sidelines of a workshop in Dubai on Tuesday. “They [employees] should be responsible for their own actions, paper work and medical checkups.”
Without the sponsorship system, Emiratis would no longer have worry about providing amenities for laborers. In short, nationals would be “better off” without the system.
He also told the Abu Dhabi-based daily that he has been lobbying for the abolishment of the system since 2002.

Then the employers as well as the employees will be Free !
Dubai also needs to introduce a law on bankruptcy as too many people are running away leaving huge debts and it is causing major problems for the financial institutions , the courts and the police with a flood of criminal cases being registered.
