A 23-year-old Indian passenger on two Emirates flights has been diagnosed with Influenza AH1N1, popularly known as swine flu, reports Xpress. The passenger was on flights EK 202 and EK 524 from New York to Hyderabad via Dubai. He failed to declare any illnesses before boarding the flights.<p>
<p> “Passengers on all Emirates’ flights from North and South America are required to declare their health condition in an official form which is collected on arrival at Dubai by the UAE Ministry of Health,” Orhan Abbas, Emirates Vice-President, India and Nepal said. <p>
<p> “Emirates can confirm the person identified as having Influenza AH1N1 declared no health issues. Also, the passenger cleared the thermo scan machines installed by health authorities at the Dubai International Airport,” he added. <p>
<p>Crew members on the flights have been asked to report any symptoms of the flu to the airline’s clinic. <p>

The Dubai Tennis Championships announced it will pay a record $300,000 (AED1.1 million) fine for denying Israeli player Shahar Peer a visa to play at the tennis tournament this year, reports The Jerusalem Post. In addition to the fine, the WTA Tour Board wants Dubai organizers to arrange visas for qualifying Israeli players eight weeks ahead of the event next year.

<p>Kevin Ridgely, the head of Sony Music Entertainment Middle East, said the 48-year-old Scottish singer may be signing a record contract with the label soon. The contract will include a tour, and Dubai is pegged as a likely Middle East destination. <p>

Inspections of Dubai’s schools by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) show that while 117,320 pupils get an education that is either acceptable or outstanding, 20,355 students attend schools that are deemed ‘unsatisfactory’.<p>
<p>The report also shows that while only 2.1 percent of private schools are categorized as ‘outstanding’, no public schools made the mark. <p>
<p>The authority grouped schools in Dubai under four categories: outstanding, good, acceptable and unsatisfactory. <p>
