Tis the season to be shameless

With earrings, bracelets and necklaces adorning The Most Expensive Tree, Kipp thinks Abu Dhabi’s effort might just be the most ridiculous, too.

There is tasteless, there is garish, and then there is the World’s Most Expensive Christmas Tree in Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace. We blogged that the tree might be an omen for the tacky flashy path the capital could be heading down, but our argument was purely speculative.
Then we saw this video of a close up on The National and it was actually worse than we thought. When we read the tree was homes to 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, and sapphires, silly us, we expected the gems to vaguely resemble baubles. Instead the ornaments are complete sets of earrings, necklaces, chokers, and bracelets, unceremoniously thrown across the tree.
Sure, the tree might make the Guinness Book of Records for being the most costly, but Kipp’s wondering if there is a slot in there for the tackiest tree, too?
