Jeff Bewkes is the chairman and CEO of Time Warner, the parent company of CNN. And although Time Warner has been hit hard by the financial crisis, Maddox told the Telegraph earlier this year that his unit, CNN International, has been profitable since its launch.

“Jeff Bewkes understands our company intimately,” Maddox told the paper. “He’s deeply respected because he’s done it – he can point to a track record inside the company of success, innovation and precise management.”

Bewkes who was selected as the chairman of Time Warner in January 2009, has been the CEO of the company since January 2008 and a director since January 2007. Previously, he served as the president and COO of the company, and was chairman and CEO of HBO.
