Toyota announces over 430,000 Hybrid cars recall

Toyota said on Tuesday that it is recalling more than 436,000 hybrid cars worldwide including its new model Prius because of braking problems. The automaker has so far recalled over 8.5 million cars because of quality and safety issues.

The company’s president, Akio Toyoda apologized about the issue, saying that Toyota was neither infallible nor “omnipotent.”

“Let me assure everyone that we will redouble our commitment to quality as a lifeline of our company,” he told reporters in Tokyo. “All of us at Toyota will tackle the issue in close cooperation with dealers and suppliers together, we will do everything in our power to regain the confidence of our customers,” he added.
