Authorities in Saudi are cracking down on people who are reserving and selling prayer spaces at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, reports the BBC. Each space can sell for up to $300 during Ramadan, says the report. Two people have already been arrested for the practice.
Religious authorities in the kingdom have condemned the practice, saying that sitting at the front of the mosque was a privilege that should be earned.
