UAE is Gulf’s top logistics hub

World Bank ranks the Emirates 24th worldwide and top in the GCC for its transport infrastructure

The World Bank has placed the UAE as the best performing logistics service-provider in the Gulf, according to a report published in Khaleej Times.

The Logistics Performance Index (LPI) survey, which is conducted every two years, placed the UAE 24^th among 155 countries surveyed, ahead of Bahrain (32), Kuwait (36), Saudi Arabia (40), Qatar (55) and Oman (60).

Aside from the transport infrastructure – including Jebel Ali Port and services at the UAE’s three main airports – the report noted the favorable location of the Emirates, from which a market of four billion people can be reached by plane within eight hours.

According to a separate report, the logistics sector in the MENA region is expected to grow to be worth $27 billion in 2012, up from the current $18 billion.
