The UAE’s population will reach five million by the end of 2009 for the first time since the country was formed nearly 38 years ago, reports Emirates Business. According to the Ministry of Economy, the country’s population will increase from around 4.7 million at the end of 2008, to around 5.06 million at the end of 2009, an annual growth of around 6.3 percent.
Dubai is expected to maintain its status as the most populated emirate in the UAE for the second year running.

i think out of 5.6 million around 4 million are ASIAN EXPATS….

hhmmmm…. Report says 5.06 million ….Are Asian Expats more or less significant to be pointed out Mr. Shadab Ahmed (commented above, if not deleted now…. as 5.60 million…..) How about ARAB EXPATS , esp the ones whose main claim to fame is ….

I am always amazed by such comments/thinking. May the light shine on all of us – ultimately – I hope !!
