The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has said that all air travelers flying to the US from other countries will be subject to increased random screening, and passengers from “terrorism-prone nations” will face extra scrutiny while entering the country.
TSA officials did not name the “state sponsors of terrorism or other countries of interest,” but sources told the Washington Post that they include Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria and Yemen.
The regulations were introduced after a Nigerian man allegedly tried to bomb a plane flying from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day.
