A British woman who was arrested in Dubai after she claimed to have been raped has returned home.

The Muslim woman and her then fiancée were arrested for sex out of wedlock and illegal drinking, after they reported an alleged rape in the bathroom of an upmarket Dubai hotel.

Prosecutors dropped the charge of sex out of wedlock, but pursued the drinking charge. The rape claim was dropped due to apparent lack of evidence.

According to The Sun newspaper, the woman has since split from her fiancé and is currently awaiting HIV test results in the UK. The woman told the newspaper that her life is “in ruins”.

well apparently she didnt get raped as she was too drunk to realize and accused a poor innocent indian worker and then backed up and she said he was not sure if she got raped or not, anyways we seriously should put a limit for a certain nationality to how much they should drink ;)

The chat here is that the couple were wasted and spent over USD 3000 boozing (easily done in Dubai) . . . an argument broke out over paying the bill and the hotel management called police. It was then that the lady accused a Syrian waiter of rape (there are no Syrian waiting staff at the hotel – only Indian) . . . this all clearly went horribly wrong for the couple. Whether or not it is true – this came from a friend of mine working at that very hotel . . .

This is all such a disgrace. Women who make false rape accusations only make it harder for genuine rape victims in the future to be taken seriously. And now the Dubai Police have shown their true colours with investigating rape allegations, even fewer women will be keen to report sexual assault. Dubai Police: Keeping the crime stats artificially low since 1956.
