Patrice Bégay will join BPI France, as Communications Director and member of the Executive Committee. BPI France, the Public Bank of Investment which oversees OSEO, CDC
Entreprises and the « Fonds Stratégique d’investissment » (FSI), aims at guaranteeing the financing of small and medium firms, medium-size companies as well as innovating companies.
Patrice Bégay’s CV:
Patrice Bégay started his career in 1989, in broadcasting. He worked as a Marketing, advertising and Sponsoring Director for the “Générale des Eaux/Canal Plus” when the international TV channel TV Sport/Eurosport was launched. In 3 years time, the TV channel became leader in terms of media dedicated to sports in the whole of Europe.
He then moved to the world of high tech, and joined the France Telecom Group in 1992 There, he was in charge of the commercial development for France Telecom Cable. He managed the subscriptions to the cable networks of France Telecom Cable, which had become the leading French cable-operator. He did so with the launch of innovating offers in the different regions of France.
He was then appointed Communications Director of Wanadoo in 1998 he participated in the transformation of one of the France Telecom departments into a leading brand, which became a quoted company.
He also contributed to the international development (UK, Spain, Netherlands as well as some franchise business in other countries), and to some web activities for the French Yellow Pages and the e-merchant Alapage.
From 2003, he participated in the creation of the integrated operator Orange as Communications Director for the fixed and Internet division (department with a revenue of 10 billion dollars). France Telecom then moved from the 9th
to the 2nd world rank of ADSL (with the creation of the Livebox modem and with the launch of voice over IP). He jointly lead the Group’s image rebranding project.
In 2007, thanks to his « entrepreneur » profile, he joined the team in charge of creating the international TV news channel France24. He was appointed Director of France24 Advertising, the commercial subsidiary firm. In 2011 he was
appointed Executive Vice President of the “Audiovisuel Extérieur de la France” (which manages France24, RFI and Monte Carlo Doualiya) and was in charge of the Diversification and Partnerships Department. During this period of time,
revenue went through a two digit increase (the digital representing 30% of the global revenue). This, thanks to an innovative commercial strategy, but also thanks to multi-media, multilingual and multi platform diversification.
