Al Jazeera Network Releases Documentary DVDs to be Distributed Worldwide

Doha, Qatar - January 21, 2010: Al Jazeera Network today announced that it is releasing a collection of documentary DVD series' on a range of social and political issues in the Arab world. This particular collection looks at an Arab perspective on Middle Eastern historical events and will be one of many collections to follow covering a wide spectrum of subjects. The two-part documentary series “Al Nakba” was produced by Al Jazeera's Arabic Channel. The documentary tells the story of the Palestinian Catastrophe (Al Nakba) starting from the 18th century to today. “Arab Christian”, a four-part series narrates the history and culture of Arab Christians and examines the effect of Arab society on the Christian message, Christian sects, the Islamic-Christian dialogue, and the rights of Arab Christians in their countries. “Street Stories” portrays the social, economic, political, historical and cultural links between a civilization and its people. All of these series are subtitled into French and English

Doha, Qatar – January 21, 2010: Al Jazeera Network today announced that it is releasing a collection of documentary DVD series’ on a range of social and political issues in the Arab world. This particular collection looks at an Arab perspective on Middle Eastern historical events and will be one of many collections to follow covering a wide spectrum of subjects. The two-part documentary series “Al Nakba” was produced by Al Jazeera’s Arabic Channel.  The documentary tells the story of the Palestinian Catastrophe (Al Nakba) starting from the 18th century to today. “Arab Christian”, a four-part series narrates the history and culture of Arab Christians and examines the effect of Arab society on the Christian message, Christian sects, the Islamic-Christian dialogue, and the rights of Arab Christians in their countries. “Street Stories” portrays the social, economic, political, historical and cultural links between a civilization and its people.  All of these series are subtitled into French and English.

These DVDs are licensed marketed and distributed by VIVA entertainment and are primarily available at all Virgin Megastores followed by other leading record stores in the Middle East.

Other titles, produced by the Al Jazeera Arabic Channel in Arabic (without subtitles) include “Witness of Century Show: Saadeddine Al Shathili former Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Forces” (10 episodes) documenting the Egyptian defeats and victories against Israel between 1948 till 1973 and the conflict between government and army on how to manage the war. Also released is “Witness of Century show- Hamas Movement” (8 episodes) with Sheikh Ahmad Yassin founder and leader of the movement. This documentary deals with his last testimonial before he died, and focuses on the origins and development of Hamas movement, and its conflict and wars with Israel.

Other Al Jazeera Network Channels such as the Sports channel and English Channel will release similar documentaries covering key issues and subjects in the near future.  The Network plans to release around 2-3 new titles per month.
