Brocade Unveils “The Effortless Network” With Launch of HyperEdge™ Technology
Innovative New Brocade HyperEdge Technology and Campus LAN Switches Deliver Unmatched Automation, Scalability and Affordability
March 7, 2012 12:00 by Colin_Saldanha
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – March 7, 2012 – Brocade has introduced innovation in the Campus Network Infrastructure market with the launch of two new switches ICX 6430 and ICX 6450. These products incorporate Brocade's vision of The Effortless NetworkTM with Brocade® HyperEdgeTM technology, designed to simplify the campus network edge by easing operations and management.
Sufian Dweik, Regional Manager – Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at Brocade says, "The world has moved to mobile devices. This places huge pressure on corporate networks as they are the entry point for users to access applications and information. Increased performance and reduced complexity in these corporate networks supports the fast adoption and effective delivery of cloud-enabled applications, virtualisation, unified communications and BYOD. Brocade's HyperEdge technology is a revolutionary new approach to corporate networks that reduces complexity and cost while increasing performance. We believe that these products will enable us to capitalize on the huge growth potential of the campus LAN market".
Brocade's Effortless Network vision is based on three principles – simplified and automated networks, easy scalability which results in an extended network infrastructure lifecycle and finally 'no-compromise' solutions that offer 'enterprise-class' functionality at a very high business value.
Brocade ICX switches offer an ease of use, features and functionality that are superior to all other products currently available in the market. Two stand-out features that provide investment protection and reduced operational costs are the 'mix-and-match stacking' and single-point management capabilities. Customers buying HyperEdge ICX switches can mix and match premium and entry-level switches within a single stack, so that entry-level switches inherit all of the feature richness of the premium switches in the stack at great value price points. As opposed to a rip-and-replace strategy, this creates an investment protection by extending the lifespan of the switching infrastructure from around three years to around seven to ten years. Single-point management enables users to manage their entire access switching layer as if it were a single device, from initial deployment to ongoing configuration, software upgrades and monitoring.
HyperEdge technology will be available on the stackable switch portfolio, including the Brocade ICX and Brocade FCX switch families, through a simple software upgrade when it becomes available next year.
Brocade ICX Switches
The new Brocade ICX 6430 Switch and Brocade ICX 6450 Switch feature full stacking capabilities, a rich set of Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality and the ability to support advanced features such as Energy-efficient Ethernet (EEE) and MACsec encryption for link-level data protection. Available in 24- and 48-port 1GbE models, with optional 1/10GbE uplink/stacking ports, the ICX 6430 and 6450 can stack up to 384-ports for unprecedented entry level stack densities and functionality.
Pricing and Availability
The Brocade ICX 6430 and 6450 are available today directly through Brocade and its channel partners with at a starting list price of $1,295 USD. Multi-Chassis Trunking (MCT) capabilities are also available today for the Brocade FastIron® SX Switches. HyperEdge technology is planned to be available for purchase in the first half of 2013. All Brocade ICX and Brocade FCX switches are HyperEdge technology-ready.
These new products and other Brocade networking solutions are available direct, through Brocade channel partners and via Brocade Network Subscription, a flexible network acquisition option designed to provide organizations with the ability to closely align network capacity with fluctuating business needs.
