The World Future Energy Summit, held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, showcases the very latest in innovative advances in eco-friendly technology. Creative Technology Dubai, commissioned by production company EventQuest Middle East (www.eventquest.com), provided video playback and projection systems for the 2nd Zayed Future Energy Awards ceremony held at the Auditorium at Emirates Palace.
CT delivered some stunning HD graphic content, produced by EventQuest, for the awards presentation with a full 1080i HD video shown on a 14m wide projection screen for the opening piece.
Three pairs of Barco FLM HD 20K DLP projectors were placed back stage in the main Auditorium and blended via a Vista Spyder system which was used to add PIP to show the TX camera feed throughout the presentation and speeches.
The signal to the projectors was via DVI Fibre from the Spyder, in turn fed with the Watchout and TX from the Grass Valley Kayak HD SDI PPU Vision Mixer. Also supplied by CT, feeding the mixer, were two Thompson LDK6000 HD camera channels and a Thomson LDK8000 with a Links Radio Back. Additional ENG material was captured on a PDW 700 Kit during the walk in and Gala dinner.
Outside the Auditorium the foyer was scenically decorated as the “Hall of Energy”. CT provided two sets of Watchout and projection hardware systems for each of the 7.8m wide screens with a further four Panasonic 7K DLP Projectors blended together to create the 7.8m wide image. Four Watchout machines provided the feed, looping a nine minute animated sequence, also produced by EventQuest.
“It was a challenging and exciting event to have had the pleasure to work on,” commented Mark Woodhouse, Project Manager at Creative Technology Dubai. “Our media team, Dave Boeck and Anthony Bezencon really over performed and the result was a seamless and successful show.”
The Zayed Future Energy Prize was created in honour of Sheikh Zayed, the late founder of the UAE,
“to inspire the next generation of global energy innovators, creating solutions for the future”. It is
given annually to up to three individuals, companies or organisations that have made “significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy, climate change and sustainability”.
This year’s winner was the Toyota Motor Corporation. The US$1.5 million (Dh5.5m) prize was presented during the ceremony by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
