As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Dubai Duty Free, one of the largest single airport retailers in the world, today announced a donation of AED 3 million to support the Ramadan campaign by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to provide clothing to 1 million needy children around the world.

Every year during Ramadan, His Highness launches a number of humanitarian and social initiatives that are compatible with the values of Ramadan and the traditions that encourage goodness and giving. This year’s campaign encourages the entire UAE community to extend its support to those who are forced to make do with little in their lives, providing them with basic necessities and helping them maintain their dignity in the harsh environment they live in.

Commenting on the donation, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman, Colm McLoughlin said; “Since we started our Foundation in October 2004, we have been working with several local and international charities that have specifically helped children. This great initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai represents an exceptional opportunity for Dubai Duty Free to celebrate the values of giving and cooperation through the humanitarian effort of reaching to those in need and alleviate their suffering.”

In collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, which regularly works with poor and deprived people in Asia and Africa, the clothing campaign will run until the UAE Humanitarian Work Day on 19th Ramadan which coincides with the ninth death anniversary of the founding President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Dubai Duty Free Foundation, which was established by the airport retailer in October 2004, operates under the auspices of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Duty Free with Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, as the Foundation’s Chairman.

Through the Foundation, Dubai Duty Free continues to actively support important social and charitable initiatives during the month of Ramadan, especially those in which the people of the UAE can share and collaborate.
