Dubai-UAE: 8 September, 2010 – Dubai Internet City (DIC), today announced it will mark 10 years of robust growth at the GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010, one of the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East.
DIC will be the strategic partner for the event that will be held from 17-21 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The DIC pavilion will host technology giants including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Yahoo! Maktoob.
Malek Al Malek, Managing Director, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone, said: “Our participation will reflect our status as a critical technology cluster that has remained a key enabler in the transformation of the Middle East’s ICT sector over the last decade. The objective is to continue nurturing our business partners and provide a growth platform for all segments across the industry value chain. We believe our presence in this year’s edition will adequately illustrate our contribution to the region’s industry.”
For new businesses seeking to expand their foothold in the region, Dubai Internet City along with Dubai Outsource Zone will showcase their ‘plug and play’ free zone infrastructure. This will provide a learning platform for businesses as they look for fresh growth opportunities in the region.
The pavilion will showcase key developments during the business cluster’s decade-long growth. Additionally, visitors will experience some of the latest technologies at the ‘Interactive Zone’ and get an opportunity to participate in business presentations and seminars at the dedicated enclosure. There will be an exclusive gaming section where visitors will have the opportunity to experience the highly anticipated entertainment and gaming system – Kinect from Xbox 360 which will be showcased for the first time in the region.
Microsoft will partner with DIC to showcase both its consumer and enterprise offerings based on the cloud as well as the latest devices and prototypes running on the Microsoft Windows platform. Visitors will experience how technology helps connect the PC, Phone and TV and how sensor and touch screen technologies are enhancing the end-user experience
HP will be running presentations and workshops with interesting information
about anti-counterfeit activities, how to identify fake printing supplies and the technology behind original supplies as well as launching a new range of products.
Along with DIC, HP will launch its Planet Partner Program for the recycling of toner cartridges. This was preceded by DIC’s partnership with HP for their Anti-Counterfeit (ACF) Campaign. The Planet Partner Program will promote environmental protection efforts in technology and provide a means by which we can collectively ensure that we all do our part to help to reduce our impact on the environment by recycling used printing cartridges
For the 2nd successive year, Yahoo! Maktoob will exhibit under the DIC pavilion. Yahoo! Maktoob will announce new engaging products which enhance and embrace online Arab content at GITEX. As well as showcasing products such as the new Video On Demand service. VOD users will be able to browse through the available channels and shows, and view the videos they choose for free and at their convenience, any time and any where
Demonstrating its resilience even during the current tough economic conditions, DIC has welcomed 105 new companies to date in 2010. The cluster continues to launch initiatives that look to explore fresh growth avenues, identify existing business opportunities that can be further augmented and support industry events that nurture budding entrepreneurs in the region.
