Intel announced the winners of the Intel Challenge Levant, organized by Intel Corporation in collaboration with Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE), in 3 countries (Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine), to develop the skills of young entrepreneurs and motivate them to launch projects that serve their societies.
Applikable Technologies won the first place after competing with nine contestants from the three Arab countries, and will be traveling to the USA to pitch their project at Intel Global Challenge in UC-Berkeley and get exposed to new ideas and trends from around the world. Second place went to EHRAM from Palestine, and third place to Psychaid from Lebanon.
In her comment, Intel Corporate Affairs Manager for Levant and North Africa, Rula Habash, said: “Through this competition, we aspire to recognize gifted youth in the Arab region, and help them develop their leadership skills and creative talents. The competition focuses on providing participants with knowledge and tools necessary to set up and execute projects that will create job opportunities and help reduce unemployment rates.”
Habash noted that the participants have already won the national competitions organized by the national partners and supported by Intel. The partners for this year included: Berytech (Lebanon), Palestine Information and Communications Technology Incubator (Palestine) and Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (Jordan).
For his part, the Executive Director of QRCE, Farhan Kalaldeh, said: “We appreciate Intel’s constant keenness to support entrepreneurship programs at the local and regional levels, and their dedication to putting forth this and other initiatives with the aim of motivating youth and unleashing their capabilities to serve their communities.”
Highlighting the huge success of the competition among youth and university students, Kalaldeh added: “This competition is a venue where innovative minds and entrepreneurial spirit merge. It has great potential to empower young people and enhance their competencies to help them turn their innovative ideas into successful ventures.”
The Intel Levant Business Plan competition is part of Intel Global Challenge, a worldwide Intel competition organized annually at UC-Berkeley, targeting university students, graduates and young entrepreneurs, to encourage them to develop their innovative technology business plans and reward ideas that have potential to become a new business or even a new industry.
